Charlene Lee's watercolor, Heading Out, is a vivid depiction of Maine with its clear blue colors and appealing subject matter.


Albert Pelletier, who is active in MWA as well as in the Clay Guild, creates both functional pottery and decorative pieces such as this glazed Pear sculpture.



This mosaic is by Hilary Zayed, who works in several mediums. Hilary often works in three-dimensions and her art often has a non-rectangular outside shape.


Linda Thorndike Williams is an elementary school art teacher who experiments in many mediums, including fiber art. This watercolor is called Waterlily.



Ellen Pelletier, shown here in her Kennebunk studio, paints in pastel. The artist, along with her husband, Al Pelletier, are an intergral part of MWA, handling the show set-ups with enthusiasm and good spirit.


Carol Gagnon is a watercolorist who has lived and worked in the Kennebunkport area for many years and now summers in Maine. This painting is entitled Lighthouse.

Janet Duncan works in opaque watercolor to achieve a flat but vibrant painting. This one is entitled Teamwork.



Blossoms by Julia Simpson Hackett, a longtime member of Maine Women in the Arts, also paints minatures, as seen to the right.


The MWA miniature show takes place in the Fall in Kennebunkport. Both small and larger art is exhibited in this fine art show. This is one of Julia Simspon Hackett's oil paintings. It sits on its own small easel and measures only 5x7 inches. More images for Fall Show at bottom of page.



Mary Gannon paints local scenes in oil. This is her painting of The Nonatum Resort in Kennebunkport, where many artists participate in Breakfast with an Artist on Sunday mornings throughout the season.


Aloma Wallace - Seeing Double. This colorful local scene was featured on MWA publicity during our Fall Show and was a great success.



Barbara Moon is a sculptor who uses driftwood and found objects from local beaches.


Carol Santora, who has a studio open to the public in Kennebunk, works in pastels. Her animal paintings of wild, farm and domesticated animals, as well as pet portraits are colorful and often humorous.

Kathy Angel Lee is a fiber artist who often hand-colors her own fabric. Her wall hangings and other art is colorful and unique.


This photograph of a cowboy shooting competitor in Maine is by Geraldine Aikman, who also paints, creates websites and networks with other artists.



Both of these Maine Women in the Arts Fall Show pictures enlarge to press size. This is a display of some small-sized paintings, each sitting on its own easel on a tabletop. Small paintings are both affordable and are very handy for visitors and collectors to take away with them.


 

Maine Women in the Arts December Prelude show features framed fine art, and fine crafts handmade by the artists. It takes place in Kennebunkport, at the Masonic Hall on Temple Street, during the first weekend of the Prelude festivities.
